Hi, I’m Alfie

I like objects that carry a story. My influences are the florals of the Arts and Crafts movement, brutalist posters and Asian postage stamps, and a lot of my work comes back to the Isle of Sheppey, where I grew up. I'm now in Brighton, studying a BSc in Product Design at the University of Sussex, and working across packaging, print and physical product.

The Montgomery

A watch box styled as a crate 'recovered' from the SS Richard Montgomery, the WWII wreck off the Isle of Sheppey where I grew up. Fumed oak, steel corners, a cork interior, and a lid carving that shouldn't exist.

Designed for a Big Potato Games brief, Go Capy! is a fast-paced dexterity card game with a physical capybara plush that keeps it chaotic and fun.

Balance Bike

How efficient can a balance bike be? We took one apart and redesigned it with 35 parts instead of 60, whilst keeping it safe and functional.

A self checkout for libraries, paired with an accessible app that lets visually impaired users take out books in a format that suits their needs.

STRUT Controller

Game console controllers are made to be discarded. This project designs a controller whose sticks, battery and shell can be replaced so it can be repaired instead.
